Project Summary: Scriven Lives Lifetime of Firsts, Restoration and Replication

In August 2023, I collaborated with CEO Michael Murphy to assist a client in restoring a cherished newspaper article from 1982 about the client’s father which had deteriorated significantly over the years. The article was so fragile that it crumbled during handling. Employing meticulous techniques with specialized tools, I carefully reconstructed the article piece by piece, letter by letter, word by word. Check out the carousel below to see that progression.

Once the restoration was complete, I utilized Adobe Photoshop to create a digital replica of the article that we would frame. the client to frame a version to gift his father. Subsequently, my coworker obtained online access to the original article, and we discovered that the client preferred the original for its sentimental value. It was gratifying to see that my digital restoration closely matched the original, showcasing both my attention to detail and the effective use of physical and digital tools in preserving history. This project not only enhanced my skills in restoration and digital replication but also provided a rewarding experience in delivering a meaningful keepsake to the client. See below for the original version of the article along with my replica of it.
